It can go without saying that the last couple of weeks have been incredibly stressful. We’re at a moment in time where everything seems to be on a delicate balance that’s being blown and pushed, waiting to crumble. ICE being in Minnesota not only put me more on edge but also has made me more frustrated and angry that we aren’t doing more.

I won’t sit here and pretend I know what “more” looks like but something tells me, it isn’t this. As a matter of fact, my own doing something was writing a song, ICE Melt (Shine Sun! Shine!), to convey my feelings and emotions.

The point is, we’re all doing the best we can but we can always be doing more. That’s just a fact of the matter. It’s also a part of why I wrote ICE Melt (Shine Sun! Shine!). I’m angry, frustrated, scared, worried, pissed the fuck off. Essentially, I feel like I’m losing my own mind watching all of this happen. As, I am sure, many other people are.

Between living in a community that is full of immigrants and having been born and raised in Minnesota, it’s been infuriating watching the last year unfold the way it has and how we got to the point we are at. We are all that we got. There’s nobody that’s coming and I truly wish that not just more, but that all of us got and understood that. Fascism isn’t coming, it’s already here and has been here and it needs to be fought. Not warned about.
